WHAT IS HRV?

Heart rate variability is a method of measuring the time interval between two consecutive heartbeats. A high HRV indicates that the body is in rest mode with good recovery. A lower HRV is an indication of stress, impaired recovery and chronic low-grade inflammation that over time can lead to disease.

About HRV scores in the GØT App

When you synchronize GØT with a smart watch or other wearable, GØT will calculate your HRV score on a scale from 0 to 100. Your HRV score will have great impact on your GØT score.

HRV is individual and is influenced by many internal and external factors. External factors such as sleep, food intake, stress and activity are conditions you in large part can influence Internal factors such as age, gender and genetics are beyond your control. The normal range for HRV decreases exponentially with increasing age, and your score is sbased on what is optimal for your age group.

It is completely normal for your HRV to drop temporarily after hard training or other activities that stresses the body. You should therefore focus more on long-term trends than short-term fluctuations. With simple lifestyle measures, most people can improve their average HRV over time, with all the health benefits this will bring.
